On the last Friday before the May Break, all primary students participated in the traditional 'Koningsspelen'. A day of outdoor games and sports that is organised in all Dutch primary schools to celebrate King's Day.

All students, dressed in orange for the occasion,  assembled in the Aula at the start of the day. The grade 1 students prepared a short play to explain who the King and Queen of the Netherlands are and when and how  people in the Netherlands celebrate King's Day.

Traditional Dutch games

After the assembly it was time for the fun and games. Students from grade 2 upwards walked to the Papendorp sports fields, a short distance from school. There they participated in several traditional Dutch games, such as 'zaklopen', 'ringwerpen', 'trefbal' and 'touwtrekken'. They were helped by the grade 5 students who led the games.

Aikido and skateboarding

The Kindergarten and grade 1 students had their own programme in the gym halls at school. Besides helping out with the primary games, the grade 5 students also participated in 2 workshops: Aikido and Skateboarding.
