The ISU crew were ready to welcome our families and visitors during the Dag van de Bouw

Dag van de Bouw

CommunityPermanent Campus
22-06-2026

Around 750 people visited the construction site of our new campus at Utrecht Science Park. On Saturday 20 June, we joined the national Dag van de Bouw (Open Construction Day) where constructions sites across the Netherlands are open to the general public. A great opportunity for our school families, to have a look at our permanent campus!

By Ingrid Schmoutziguer, communications advisor

Together with constructor Van Wijnen and installation company ITN, we created a fenced-off, self-guided tour for our families and visitors. All visitors received an activity card that would be signed at every stand along the route. They could also grab a barista coffee or a lemonade.

Architects

Children could adorn posters with the text of our school song at the ISU stand, whilst their parents could check out 3D simulations of the building at the neighbouring stand of construction company Van Wijnen. On the next floor, they could see the maquette of the building, stand outside on the terrace, look at artist impressions of the inside of the building and speak with the architects from SVP & Cross.

Boat

One floor down, installation company ITN had set up a model of a shower cubicle for children to work on with real tools. They also manned a stand where children could build a solar powered boat. The boat could be put to the test later on in a paddling pool set up outside. With the warm summer weather on the day, the ice cream van along the tour was a big hit.

0-18 school

On the ground floor, children could hang out with their BSO leaders from Kind & Co Ludens, whilst parents could get information about the nursery that Kind & Co Ludens will open in the building. Fun fact: ISU will be the first 0-18 school in the Netherlands!

A huge thank you to everyone who visited and helped make the day so memorable. Seeing so many people connect, learn and celebrate this important milestone together was truly inspiring.

Aftermovie
