Construction Update 2

As you can see in the picture above, constructor Van Wijnen has made a start with putting up the special ceramic façade on our new school campus at Utrecht Science Park. They also created part 1 of a video series showing the construction process.

By Ingrid Schmoutziguer, communications advisor

As you might know, the constructors are working on the low rise (back) side of the building and high rise (front) side of the building simultaneously (please find detailed information on the construction). The special ceramic façade is now going up at the low rise side of the building and this should be wind and water tight this week.

Highest point

As soon as this is the case, Van Wijnen will start installing the timber frame construction (TFC) façade elements on the high rise part of the building. It is expected that the building will top out in March 2026. Of course, reaching the highest point is something we will celebrate!

Video series

You can follow the special construction process in a video series and in part #1 you'll hear from:

  • Alderman Eelco Eerenberg on the importance of international education for the municipality of Utrecht.
  • Our Head of School, Marieke Folkers, on the need for a new, permanent school building.
  • Architect Gideon de Jong (SVP Architectuur & Stedenbouw) on the design process.
