For the second time in a row, the International School Utrecht Design team has taken students from Grades 8 and 9 to support the Junior IOT stand at National Educational Fair (NOT). The collaboration between our school and Junior IOT requires the students to teach and demonstrate technological skills such as 3D printing, laser cutting materials, soldering, and coding. Junior IOT promotes learning through making.

The choice of students from Grades 8-9 was due to their exposure to 3D printing skills in the Therapy Toys unit in Grade 9, soldering skills in the amplifier unit, and laser cutting in the architecture unit in Grade 8. This meant all students  have accumulated enough skills to use the resources and machines required by the Junior IOT safely and independently.

Queen Máxima

Her Majesty Queen Máxima opened the NOT fair 2025, which highlighted key themes like technology, craftsmanship, citizenship, mental well-being, and AI. As honorary chair of the MIND Us Foundation, she emphasised the importance of young people's mental health in education. She also supported learning through making in education and visited the Junior IOT stand, where our students had the incredible opportunity to experience her royal support.

At the fair our students interacted with people of all ages, from kids to the elderly. This has also been a good opportunity to students to practice and interact with visitors in Dutch and English.
