Outdoor learning in the Early Years (KG-Grade 1) is crucial for holistic development, boosting physical health, cognitive skills, emotional resilience, and social abilities

We believe that nature-based, hands-on experiences like risk-taking, sensory exploration, and imaginative play, leads to better focus and well-being for young children. Outdoor play also fosters a deeper connection to the world, enhancing learning outcomes across the curriculum.

Gross motor skills

Outdoor play develops gross motor skills, balance, and encourages an active lifestyle through running, climbing, and exploring. It enhances problem-solving, creativity, risk assessment, and understanding of concepts through natural materials. It builds confidence, self-discipline, resilience, empathy, and communication skills. Most importantly, it reduces stress, improves mood, boosts immunity, and supports sensory and neurodevelopment.

Experiential Learning

Our playground offers experiential learning where children learn by doing, using whole bodies and minds with real materials (mud, leaves, water) for authentic discovery. It integrates into our curriculum as the natural elements become maths manipulatives (seeds, stones), art supplies (leaves, mud), or science tools (observing life cycles). The highlight of it all is that outdoor play nurtures curiosity, deepens engagement, and allows for revisiting fascinations.

Tyres, mud kitchens and sand tools

We are forever ready with our appropriate clothing and resources to facilitate the learning. We use resources like tyres, mud kitchens, tools for the sand and we also involve the children in our planning as to what we should have to help them with their learning journey.
