For the fifth year in a row, ISU was invited by Junior IOT to collaborate in an innovation and technology fair. That is why we took a group of MYP students to the Eindhoven Maker Days. It was a weekend full of hands-on exploration, creativity, and real-world problem-solving. The students left inspired, thrilled to see real-world applications of what they are learning in Design class.
Eindhoven Maker Days
The Eindhoven Maker Days, founded
nearly ten years ago, celebrate creativity, innovation, and hands-on
exploration. The event brings together exciting technologies such as robotics,
game design, virtual reality, 3D printing, laser cutting, and coding,
combined with crafts like textiles and woodworking. It is a popular event for
families and technology enthusiasts alike.
Before the event, students received a workshop preparing them for their assigned role — teaching others how to solder.
Despite some language barriers, they did an outstanding job assisting numerous
visitors who were eager to learn and explore the station. Their positive and
welcoming disposition earned many praises and compliments from many attendees,
particularly parents.
Robot Wars & 3D Printing
Between shifts, students had the
opportunity to visit other exhibits and demonstrations, including live Robot
Wars, a digital fashion exhibition, Star Wars robotics displays, and several
interactive product booths offering fun takeaways. Some tried their hand at 3D
printing their own designs, while others created personalised tags using the
laser cutter in the Junior IOT trailer.
