Secondary Student Support Coordinator; Individuals and Societies
Before moving to the Netherlands in 2012, Josie Galemmo worked at ACS Egham International School in England for ten years. The first eight years were as Head of the English as an Additional Language (EAL) Department and the final two years as Academic Dean for the High School, grades 9-12. In this capacity Josie advised students on academic choices and grades for university placement.
During these two years, Josie took part in a Masters programme at the Institute of Education, University of London, where her dissertation focused on bilingual students’ motivation within the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
Originally from Canada, Josie got her Masters in Education in the United States where she worked as a grade 8 Mathematics and Science teacher in Philadelphia City Schools. She also taught primary school, at the International School Bangkok, for seven years where she headed up the curriculum development team for Science and Mathematics, while at the same time receiving graduate level training and teaching certification in English as an Additional Language (EAL). After Bangkok, she worked as a primary and secondary teacher trainer and curriculum developer for three years, in the United States, before heading off to the United Kingdom.
