David de Geus


David de Geus is a music educator, pianist and a choir director. After finishing secondary school in Utrecht, he moved to New York, where he studied at City College of New York. As soon as he graduated with a Performing Arts degree in Jazz and Music Education, David started working as an elementary school music teacher in Queens, NY. After moving back to the Netherlands, he worked as a pianist and vocal coach in the Dutch musical industry, performing in different cities around Holland and Belgium.

For the last seven years, David worked as a secondary school music teacher and a chorus conductor, leading his own a cappella group and black gospel choir. He is also very active as workshop leader for various groups of people and likes to bring people out of their comfort zone by focusing on the emotional and communicative power of music.

At the International School Utrecht David is teaching music, conducting several ensembles and developing a dynamic music program in collaboration with some of the bigger cultural institutions in Utrecht, like TivoliVredenburg.

David lives in Utrecht with his American wife and two daughters.
