The out-of-school care (Buitenschoolse Opvang or BSO in Dutch) for ISUtrecht students is facilitated by our partner, childcare organisation Kind & Co Ludens They provide after school care at Anne Frank for children aged 4-7 and after school care at Dodgers for children aged 8-12.
Anne Frank
BSO Anne Frank is located at the Anne Frank primary school just up the road from the ISUtrecht (on the Van Bijnkershoeklaan). BSO Dodgers is located at base and softball association Domstad Dodgers, just around the corner from the ISUtrecht on the Admiraal Helfrichlaan. Kind & Co Ludens staff members pick up the children from the ISUtrecht and walk with them to their BSO. The BSO starts as soon as school finishes for the day. The BSO closes at 18.30. The BSO is open on study days and in the vacation period as well, from 7.30 until 18.30.
At the Anne Frank location there are 3 groups:
- Ocean (4-5 years)
- Rainbow (4-7 years)
- Fire (6.5- 12 years)
An afternoon at Anne Frank
The children are picked up from school to walk to Anne Frank School. They always start with a drink and snack (crackers and vegetables). As outdoor play time is very important for all children, they all go outside after snack to play for 30 mins or more. If they want, the children can also do a theme-based activity- like cooking, crafting, painting. After this activitiy the children have some fruit. The day ends with free play. On Wednesdays and Fridays the BSO can use the lovely big gym at the Anne Frank School for a host of different activities.
Please note that Wednesdays look a little different. As school finishes early, the children have lunch at the BSO.

Dodgers
The ‘Dodgers’ location is a sports location. Children play basketball, field hockey and other sports there. They also engage in creative activities. This location has space for 22 children.
An afternoon at Dodgers
Children get picked from school by the Kind & Co Ludens staff on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. They walk together to Dodgers. They always start with a drink and snack (crackers and vegetables). After this, they engage in a planned activity (indoor or outdoor, depending on the weather). They have fruits and then it is time for free play!

Admissions and Registration
You can register your child/ren at the BSO to start with. Once you opt for ‘Buitenschoolse opvang’, you select ‘plaatsnaam’ Utrecht. Please note, for the ‘basisschool’, you must select ‘International School Utrecht’. This leads you to the two locations (for afterschool care) you can choose from – Anne Frank and Dodgers. Further filling in the form and submitting it confirms your registration.

Activities
Kind & Co Ludens also offers after school activities such as, arts and crafts, engineering and different sports every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. These after school activities are invoiced separately. If a child attends the BSO and has also signed up for after school activities, Kind & Co Ludens makes sure that he/she is being dropped off at and picked up from the activity. ISUtrecht students who don’t go to the BSO, can also join in with the after school activities organised by Kind & Co Ludens. Childcare 0-4yrs
Kind & Co Ludens also offers childcare to babies and toddlers (0-4yrs) in various crèches or daycare centres (in Dutch this is called a kinderdagverblijf or KDV) throughout the city. Please look at the KDV section of the Kind & Co Ludens webpage to know more.
Kind & Co Ludens often has waitlists and there can be a period after you register and get a spot at the BSO. We would advise you to register at the earliest so that your wait time reduces.
