International Mother Language Day Films and Pictures

It is, in deed a pleasure to belong to an organisation that currently houses staff and students of more than 50 different nationalities. What is even more exciting is, that we get introduced to more than 45 different languages! Can you imagine the auditory feast of listening to all these languages, everyday at school?

This calls for a celebration! How better than to celebrate this diversity, together, on International Mother Language Day! ‘International Mother Language Day is observed worldwide on 21 February. We celebrate it to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism.

Themes and Films

One of our favourite Home Languages Week pursuits, which has become rather a tradition now, is when parents and children ‘invite us in’ as special guests to a cameo of home life and language. This year, we had three categories of language sharing: Stories from the Sofa, Family Songs, and World Cuisine.

Sit back and enjoy the footage compiled lovingly by Ms. Ingrid Schmoutziguer. Thank you for letting us in!
