Our book is available!
We are very proud that the book Teaching and Learning in International Schools, written by teachers from the International School Utrecht is now available. The book, edited by Eryn Wiseman and Anssi Roiha and published by Critical Publishing, is written by teachers for teachers and aspiring teachers.
‘With more and more teachers working in international schools, this book provides a practical and accessible examination of effective pedagogy in this specific context. Using case studies that can be applied in a range of settings, it explores key areas of classroom practice such as collaboration and student agency, along with emergent approaches such as play-based, concept-based and inquiry-based teaching and learning. In addition, it gazes towards students’ future needs, exploring themes such as new literacies and intercultural competence.’
Teacher, author, university lecturer and consultant Kath Murdoch calls the book: ‘a welcome contribution to the resources available not only to those who wish to pursue a career in International Education but to any beginning teacher or those simply wanting to refresh their thinking about how to apply contemporary practices to the classroom.’
Practical and accessible
International educator, curriculum developer and director Malcolm Erimus of Erimus Education also praised the book: “It is very rare to find an educational text that leads the reader from principles into practice. Teaching and Learning in International Schools does exactly that, and in a style that brings you along on a journey rather than intimidating with jargon and theory. Each chapter contains relevant and rich content that takes us through a wide range of ideas around teaching practice, pedagogy and teacher skill development….The ‘teacher voice’ is strong and brings the theory into real-life, makes it more authentic and gives confidence to the reader that we can do it too!…..This is a text that is much needed in national and international education.‘
