One of the four pillars that underpin everything we do at ISUtrecht is:
We give special attention to the physical and social environment we learn and work in. We value and care for the natural world and model responsible behaviour. Our learning environment is one in which every person can express themselves safely and freely.
Focusing on the social environment, the student support team is launching ‘Lunch Bunch’.
What is Lunch Bunch?
Lunch Bunch is a small group session, during lunch, designed to boost self-esteem, social-emotional wellbeing, social skills and increase peer relations. Sessions take place once a week, for 5-8 weeks. Students work on a themed lesson that will allow them to work on their own personal goal/ group goal. The students will participate in a variety of activities that will allow them to explore their strengths. We run multiple groups throughout the year. Our first group will start after the October break.
Who can participate?
Any student can participate! However, space is limited. We therefore ask the classroom teacher to nominate students who they feel could benefit. Together, we decide who we will invite to Lunch Bunch. The student support team selects different topics for the Lunch Bunch. Sessions will be planned according to each group’s specific need.
How will my child be invited?
If we would like to invite your child to Lunch Bunch, we will first ask your permission. If you agree with your child participating in Lunch Bunch the student support team will invite your child via a special invitation on the day the Lunch Bunch takes place.
When will Lunch Bunch take place and who will run it?
The Lunch Bunches take place during your child’s grade level’s lunch period. The group will be run by our student support teacher Ms. Daniela Ruiz and will be held in the guided reading room. Ms Ruiz works closely together with the student support team and school counselor Ms. Elzemiek Chell, as well as the classroom teachers.
