End of the 2018-2019 school year
2018-19 has been an exceptionally good year for us. It may seem strange, but one of the best things about this year, has been the new parent room. It feels like our parent community is really welcomed at school and the main hall is available for learning again.
By Rynette de Villiers, head of school
It has been a year of consolidation. The school growth is manageable, our staff is happy and stable and our students’ academic quality is ever increasing. The grade 5 exhibition, grade 10 personal projects and DP extended essays were clear indicators that the academic level at the ISUtrecht is something to be proud of.
Our students meeting their peers
We have also become more involved in the local and Dutch international schools community. Our staff are taking lead roles in organising educational events for international school teachers, our students are meeting their peers on the sports fields and our chess team came second in the national school championships! In short, the ISUtrecht has grown from the new kid on the block, to one of the sought-after schools in the Netherlands. We are very proud of our achievement, but mostly we are grateful that we managed this as a community.
And now, the next chapter has started with the announcement of our new building. We look forward to working on this project with input from all of you. I always say that a school is not a building, but it is the people who fill it. This remains true, but I look forward to finding ways in which this new building can support the people who will use it and enhance the effect of who we are.
Exciting times ahead!
I wish our families who are moving on to their next destination a warm and safe arrival as you settle into your new homes. For those who will remain part of our community for longer, I wish you a lovely break and a safe return to join us on the first school day on Tuesday 3 September 2019.
