Multiple prizes for ISUtrecht students in local chess tournament!

ISU chess club members spent their Sunday battling it out against 69 teams from 28 primary schools in and around Utrecht. Around 300 children participated in this wonderfully organised chess event.

Our ISU chess champions brought home the silver cup, winning a qualification to the Regional Championship to be held in March. This group A team holds the 6th position out of 21 top school teams! For the official results, please see the website of chess club Moira-Domtoren, which organised the annual tournament for primary schools in Utrecht, together with chess clubs SV Magnus Leidsche Rijn and Oud-zuylen Utrecht, or

Both our Group B teams won first prize trophies and gold medals in Group B5 and B6 beating 7 other school teams. Really superb result by our 3 teams: Finn, Sushanth, Madhavan, Tanisha, Aryan, Samuel, Roman, Mukilan A, Leo, Revant, Marin, Muhilan SK, Vishaal and Muhilan!

” I felt that the tournament was exciting and at one point as a school we were in top 2 or 3 but we couldn’t maintain it. However, I felt happy that finally we could improve our position from last year and at the same time qualify at regional level ” – Madhavan

“I enjoyed the competition very much and I was very happy and proud that we won first place” – Leo
