End of year message from the head of school
We are nearing the end of this academic year and what a year it has been! We started off with a great community event: the 5th year anniversary celebrations. It was wonderful to acknowledge our diversity in the flag parade. We also celebrated our togetherness by preparing and enjoying delicious food from all corners of the globe, whilst supporting our budding entrepreneurs!

Further highlights most definitely were: the family film night, our secondary students performing A Midsummer Night’s Musical Dream in Theater Kikker, the Winter Dinner, ISU on Stage, the DP Art Exhibition and Prom Night, the first ISUtrecht International Chess tournament and of course ArtBurst.
This morning, one of our parents said the school building is like a lego castle. I thought this was rather apt, considering the expansion of our school building earlier this year. We are really happy with the extra space. It was wonderful to welcome back our secondary students to the main building, where they now have a study area, classrooms, music and design room. We were also able to open a third class in most primary grades, which enabled us to support families on the waiting list.
The lego analogy continues when this summer, we will again have builders on the school premises, as we will create a dedicated parent room, where parents can wait for their children to finish after school activities, have a cup of coffee in the morning, or a committee meeting. What currently is our primary playroom, will become the new parent room, accessible from the primary playground. This room will have coffee and tea making facilities, a meeting table and seating area, as well as a covered outside space, providing shelter for parents supervising their children on the playground after school. A new primary playroom will be built on top of the new parent room.
As is the case with every international school community, the end of a school year is always a time to say good bye. The following staff members are leaving: Raquel Garcia, Idalet de Haan, Craig Gouk, Danny Liu, Mireia van Leeuwen, Grace Omes, Pilar Pereira, Mirte Postma, Isabelle Rochette, Mark Shilitoe and Hidde Tuininga. We would like to thank them for their passion and enthusiasm and wish them well in their new adventures. I am happy to report that our recruitment for next year is complete and we will start the next academic year with 16 enthusiastic new staff members from all over the world.
I would like to wish you all a lovely and restful summer break. To those of you who are leaving the ISUtrecht I would like to wish you all the best and I hope you take some fond memories of your time at the ISUtrecht to your next destination. To those of you joining us again after summer, safe travels and we will see you back on the 28th of August!
