As you know all primary students have been learning about King’s Day and the way Dutch people celebrate this special event. Today the children celebrated King’s Day in school by participating in the traditional Koningsspelen. When King Willem Alexander was crowned 5 years ago, he invented these Koningsspelen, to emphasise the importance of playing outside and playing sports is for children.

Kindergarten students had their Koningsspelen on the primary playground, where students from grades 6-8 hosted a variety of games. The students from grades 1-4 all went to Transwijk Park for a circuit of games, also hosted by the MYP students. The grade 5 students had their own special workshop in the afternoon. The Koningsspelen were beautifully organised by the Dutch team in collaboration with the PHE team.
