Katharina Scherpel grew up in Düsseldorf, Germany in a German/American family and attended the international school there. After receiving her IB diploma, Katharina moved to Los Angeles, California and studied business and communications there for two years. She realised that she missed the European way of life and moved back to Germany. In Germany, Katharina worked at an international school as a classroom assistant for a short period of time.
Due to her experience of working at an international school, Katharina decided to study primary school education in the Netherlands. In 2010 Katharina moved to the Netherlands and learnt Dutch before she started studying at the PABO in Maastricht. During her studies in Maastricht, Katharina specialised in early childhood education and student taught at various Dutch primary schools in Maastricht and Eindhoven.
Through attending and working at an international school, Katharina knew that she wanted to pursue her teaching career at an international school and work with the PYP programme. Katharina joined the ISUtrecht staff in August, 2015 as a first grade and English Language Acquisition teacher.
Besides teaching, Katharina enjoys to travel, watch movies and play volleyball!
