New ISUtrecht campus update!

I am very pleased to tell you that the municipality of Utrecht, the ISUtrecht and Utrecht University are looking into the possibility of building a permanent ISUtrecht campus at the Cambridgelaan on the Utrecht Science Park.

By Rynette de Villiers, Head of School

It is extremely exciting for us to get to a stage where it really looks like there is a realistic and suitable location to build a school for 1200 students. The municipality started an in-depth feasibility study, which should be finished in June.

Part of this feasibility study is a so-called Programme of Requirements, in which we as a school community will make clear what exactly is needed. To truly make this a joined effort Maar! Bouwmanagement, the company, which has been involved with our buildings since the founding of the school, has held sessions with several groups of representatives from our community – students, parents and staff – to get a clear idea of our wishes and dreams for the new campus. A project group, consisting of parents and staff, including the Division Council, will guard this process, ensuring the gathering of information will result in a balanced Programme of Requirements. This document should be finished this May.

Mission and Vision

We have started another exciting process, revising the Mission and Vision of the ISUtrecht. Facilitated by appreciative inquiry specialist a group of around twenty students, staff members and parents met before the spring break to start looking at the Mission and Vision, which was written five years ago. The aim is to see which pillars should underpin our work at the school over the next five years. We started by interviewing each other thus finding out what we value most at our school.

All members of the review group are currently conducting interviews, each talking to one student, one staff member and one parent, ensuring we have enough input to develop the next version of the ISUtrecht Mission and Vision.  It is a wonderful opportunity to be able to revise the Mission and Vision at this time when we are also working towards realising our permanent campus as the two things really tie in together.

These are very exciting times at the ISUtrecht and I am really happy and proud to be part of it. I will keep you updated on the progress.
